Architecture is appreciating art for giants. I’ve always felt like the architects behind even every day buildings should be appreciated. I like to call buildings like this Mixed Media pieces, because they use a variety of contrasting forms and materials throughout.

Spirit of Adventure

Growing up, I was simultaneously terrified of, and obsessed with, what mysteries lurked beyond the depths of a subway tunnel. Just around the bend, hidden from view could have been an army of mutant alligators, or a crew of bandits using the tunnels as a risky hideaway for their ill-gotten loot. The possibilities were limitless.

Spadina

Toronto may not have as extensive a subway network as London’s Underground or as sprawling as the NYC Metro, but that hasn’t stopped it from adding character to every station. Spadina’s artwork features Subway and Street car pictographs as it’s one of the major transfer hubs for the TTC.

Blue Gehry

Frank Gehry is an internationally renowned Canadian Architect, known for his use of metal cladding to create striking and unique additions to any structure. The mastermind behind a number of prime examples of Contemporary Architecture across North America and the World. Pictured here is the Modern Wing of the Art Gallery of Ontario.
