Fran’s in the Morning

Fran’s at College and Bay is an institution here in Toronto, serving up awesome diner food! Fran’s frontage also has the best lighting! I got up and headed downtown to get there just as the sun was rising to capture the awesome neon lights and other early risers!

Aesthetics

As much as I love the gritty atmosphere that city life offers, I have a weak spot for the simplified elegance of minimalism. Minimalism is not something I’m organized enough for at home (clutter-core is my jam, don’t judge) but I love to step into it for photography from time to time, like this set

Gritty Graffiti

I love taking pictures of street art, capturing how the paint transforms the brickwork, how the textures are just so gritty.

Steel Drummer

Steel drums are fascinating to me, they sound like no other instrument and are just so fun. This talented musician was playing on them in the street in downtown Toronto.

Dundas

Dundas Subway Station in Downtown Toronto, is one of my favourite TTC stops. It is also the most hideous. This bright yellow tile is everywhere, and it always looks dirty, no matter when you visit. The dirt adds a sense of grime and despair to what could be a really cheery and friendly station.

New year new adventures

2022 is over. Last year gave me some really interesting experiences. Some of these experiences were awesome, others totally sucked, but through it all, I had the opportunity to learn and grow. 2023 is going to be a year to remember. Expect to see more content from me and my camera!

Perspectives

This little building is part of a former research station in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I got this shot using a 14MM lens, to create an incredibly wide field of view. The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is one of the biggest forested areas you’ll ever see, with awe inspiring views nearly every where you

Blooming in Red

I love shooting flowers with fast apertures. The shallow depth of field makes it seem like the blooms are just floating in space. This red beauty was at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Oregon. I loved my visit there, everything in the garden was just as serene as you imagine it would be.

Colour Corrections

It’s always amazing to me how quickly you can change a photo’s mood just by adjusting the white balance. I found this little cabin trekking through the Pacific Northwest, specifically, Washington state, and thought it was so cozy surrounded by all the greenery. Use the slider to see the difference. Can you guess which photo

Lonely Trees

It’s funny, touring through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, I never expected to find trees that I would consider lonely! The GPNF is one of the largest forested areas in all of the USA and it’s home to miles and miles of trees!
